What people think of the George Inn
Lovely food and friendly service
We had some friends coming to see us and wanted to find a friendly restaurant with good food and reasonable prices. We do have a drink in The George whenever we go to Frant to indulge ourselves in the marvellous interior design shop opposite the pub (Ensor) and it always seems to have a buzzy atmosphere and is full of locals – which is a good sign.
We were not disappointed. There was a good variety on the menu, the food was extremely well cooked (I had the calves liver for main and anyone who can cook that and get it right deserves full marks) and there was plenty of it. Service was friendly and spot on. The prices did not break the bank and we vowed to go again! This is not designer cuisine but if you want a good buzzy atmosphere, good food and a friendly night out then I would definitely give this pub a go!
It is so good I would recommend however that you book ahead if you can.
Great pub grub!
We had Sunday lunch and it was extremely good value for money way beyond our expectations for “pub grub. Polite and informal service which was well presented and substantial but we all cleared our plates.
Had a family meal here last weekend and was really impressed. We really enjoyed our meals and the staff were very accommodating to our 2 boys giving them half portions. Nice pub atmosphere and lovely desserts!
A real village pub that welcomes outsider.
The landlord and landlady are a friendly couple who welcome newcomers. The beer is excellent and the food very good. The garden out the back is large and a real pleasure to sit in in the summer.
This is the best pub ever! The owners are lovely and the service is quick and friendly. The food is amazing and has such a vary so there is something for everyone! I would defiantly recommend this to everybody as it such a family vibe but is perfect for a drink with the girls.
A good lunch.
We walked all the way here from Forgewood Campsite. And it was worth it. We had a baguette lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Orange Otter
I love this place! We always feel welcome and the atmosphere is great. Staff and locals alike always make you feel welcome. Cosy in the winter and lovely garden in the summer. The food, whilst the menu doesnt change very often, is always good, certainly above average pub food and I’ve never been disappointed. Certainly the best place in Frant to eat/drink and meet friends and family!
East Sussex Lovely
Good pub food.
We visited The George as a large group on a Saturday night for dinner. We had a lovely cosy area for the evening and between us sampled most of the options on the menu! The Seabass was delicious with a mango salsa, the rump steak was great as was the duck, the only disappointing main was the lamb chop which was very fatty.
The desserts were great – sticky toffee, brownie, meringues and cheesecake – all received positive reviews except the cheesecake!
Was quite reasonable as we all ordered 2 course plus drank quite a few pints and the bill was under £30 each – would definitely recommend and re-visit.
Amazing food and great service!
I visited for the first time two weeks ago (Oct 2012). We were entertaining friends. All of us enjoyed our meals immensely. We were so impressed, we went backa second time on the following week with another friend. I am delighted to have found such a fantastic restaurant so close to home!
Good food well cooked & presented, good pub atmosphere and excellent service
